Magothy River Technologies was formed in 2018 and consists of former employees of Edgetech and Vehicle Control Technologies before that. Several members started in the Center for Marine Autonomy and Robotics at Virginia Tech. Magothy’s engineers have had exciting careers working on all manner of unmanned marine systems.
Magothy’s engineers are seasoned veterans in unmanned systems with an average experience of 17 years. Over the course of their careers, Magothy engineers have worked on 43 different unmanned systems while working with 39 different companies and government agencies. The slideshow presents some of those 43 unmanned systems including UUVs, USVs, ROVs, as well as custom specialty vehicles.
Magothy employs well published engineers with advanced graduate degrees. These employees have studied controls, mathematics, and related unmanned systems technologies. They are experts in their fields and bring their immense knowledge and experience to Magothy’s products and services.
Christopher J. Cannell developed a love for the water at a young age growing up on the Magothy River in Annapolis, Maryland. His interest in electronics and computers followed soon after and the marriage of the two in the form of Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) was a natural fit. Chris’ first experience with UUVs came during graduate school at Virginia Tech, where he helped design, build, and test several small UUVs and Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs).
Over the course of his career, Chris has led teams of engineers and developers in designing all manner and size of UUVs and USVs. He has been fortunate to work with numerous industry leaders and government agencies pushing the boundaries of unmanned systems in marine environments. In 2018, Chris started Magothy River Technologies with a small group of engineers with a long history of excellence. Together they provide solutions to difficult problems in the unmanned marine industry.
These are some of the great organizations and companies we have been fortunate to work with.
